If you’re attuned to the seasons elsewhere, you may not have realized that fall has arrived in Marin. Shorter days, clearer skies, and the turning of some leaves set the stage for spectacular weather here in Marin County. Where’s your favorite place to spend fall in Marin?
Maybe its just us, but it seems the crickets in Marin were louder this summer. Our chief web fool headed back to Ohio and New York this summer, where a good cricket chorus can drown out passing trains and dog barks, on a quiet summer night.
Has anyone else noticed, how loud the crickets seem to be?

I just have to say, it was AWESOME. Pancakes with firemen, kids on horses and tractors. Folks of all ages, strolling around, happy and friendly. Takes me back to the days when we spent all morning, decorating our bikes with red and blue streamers, tacking flags onto our handlebars….

Ok,
People ride motorcycles in Marin. No doubt. Pass through Nicasio or Point Reyes Station on a Sunday afternoon, and motorcycles are lined up, riders trading road tales, ogling one another’s rides.
But where do all these bikes and their riders go during the week? My hunch is, most of these bikes are parked in garages, while their riders head to offices. After all, who can afford to keep both a 1098 and a Hypermotard maintained if he/she is not toiling to earn cash most of the week?
We’ll keep posting bits and pics about bikes here, and see who we can dig out of the garages and offices. Maybe we can start a “F***” work, I’m going riding on a Wednesday, Marin Moto Club.
Trust us, riding midweek, while the bicyclysts are holed up, earning their incomes, is a whole other ballgame. Imagine roaring from Woodacre to Petaluma without one car in sight?! Heaven.

This week, I was telling a friend about the “Not Married in Marin” section of this blog; he agreed, meeting other interesting singles in Marin isn’t super easy. And, for those of us who are willing to brave the world of internet connections, what resources exist for us?
A quick google search of “single in Marin,” brings up websites with broken links, fuzzy photos, and one professional match making team whose fees start at over $5k. Ulp.
So for now, let’s think of fun ways we can lure our dates, from other places – like San Francisco say? – to Marin. I’ve got the first idea from an SF boy who suggested this for Sunday:
Hiking in Fairfax then ice cream at Scoop.
I countered with the next one:
Playing tennis (poorly is ok) at the Fairfax courts, then a beer on a sunny deck.
And how about…
Swimming at Bass Lake (good luck finding it – don’t want to send too much of a crowd there!)
A double feature at Sausalito’s movie house, or an art film at one of several of Marin’s classic theatres.
Live music at Rancho Nicasio on a moonlit clear night.
That’s a start. Feel free to offer more!
In the meantime, let us hear your stories about clever ways to meet singles in Marin.

Ok so here it is. This is a forum, where you can tear apart, commend, add to, deconstruct The Marin Guide - a guide to Marin, that’s being built by people NOT from Marin.
There’s something kind of refreshing about building an insider’s guide to an area, from a relative newcomer’s perspective. We don’t have a grandfather from Nicasio who got us hooked on burgers at Rancho Nicasio. We still can’t figure out where to get a great cup of coffee in Tiburon – it’s SOO far out there. We’ve heard there are some amazing tidal pools on full moons, but have yet to find them.
So go at it. Bring us your ideas. Tell us what we’re missing. We’ll try to get it all in!
